PDC High Pressure Nitrogen Compressor

Diaphragm compressor for compressing nitrogen for filling cylinders

What is Nitrogen?

Nitrogen is a colorless, odorless, and non-flammable gas that makes up approximately 78% of the Earth’s atmosphere. It is an essential element for life, often used in various industrial processes due to its unique properties. In its gaseous form, nitrogen is dry and inert, making it ideal for applications where oxygen or other reactive gases could lead to undesirable outcomes. The high demand for nitrogen in industries such as food packaging, electronics manufacturing, pharmaceuticals, and more has led to the development of specialized equipment, such as nitrogen generators and nitrogen gas compressors, to generate, store, and deliver nitrogen at the required pressure levels.

Food Packaging and Preservation

Nitrogen compressors are widely utilized in the food packaging industry to maintain product freshness and extend shelf life. By replacing oxygen with high-purity nitrogen, these compressors create an inert environment inside packaging, preventing spoilage, oxidation, and microbial growth, ensuring that consumers receive the freshest products possible.

Aerospace and Aviation

In the aerospace industry, nitrogen compressors play a crucial role in purging and pressurizing aircraft fuel tanks, hydraulic systems, and tires. The dry and inert properties of nitrogen make it ideal for various safety-critical applications in this sector.

Electronics Manufacturing

In the electronics industry, nitrogen compressors are essential for creating nitrogen-rich atmospheres during soldering and wave soldering processes. Nitrogen eliminates the risk of oxidation on sensitive electronic components, guaranteeing high-quality and reliable production.

Metal Fabrication and Heat Treatment

Nitrogen compressors are indispensable in metal fabrication for laser cutting and welding processes. These compressors produce a high-pressure nitrogen jet to blow away molten metal, reducing oxidation during cutting. Additionally, nitrogen is used for heat treatment processes, ensuring superior hardness and durability of metal components.

Pharmaceutical Production

Pharmaceutical manufacturers use nitrogen compressors to transfer and store sensitive pharmaceutical products and chemicals. The nitrogen’s inert nature ensures the integrity and stability of these substances throughout production and storage, adhering to strict industry regulations.

Glass Manufacturing

The glass industry relies on PDC Machines’ nitrogen compressors for cooling and shaping molten glass during production. By utilizing nitrogen’s cooling properties, these compressors prevent stress and cracks in the glass, guaranteeing the production of high-quality glass products.

Chemical and Petrochemical Industries

PDC Machines’ nitrogen compressors are vital in chemical and petrochemical applications for blanketing and purging processes. The compressors eliminate flammable vapors, ensuring safe and hazard-free working environments for operators.

Automotive Industry

In automotive manufacturing, PDC Machines’ nitrogen compressors are employed to inflate tires with high-purity nitrogen gas. Nitrogen-filled tires offer better pressure retention and enhanced safety on the road, making them an ideal choice for the automotive sector.

Oil and Gas Exploration

The oil and gas exploration industry benefits from PDC Machines’ high-pressure nitrogen compressors, which enhance oil recovery from wells. By injecting nitrogen into the reservoir, these compressors increase pressure, optimizing oil extraction.

Aerospace Testing and Research

Aerospace research facilities utilize high-pressure nitrogen compressors for testing and simulating various environmental conditions that spacecraft and satellites may encounter during their missions. The reliability and precision of these compressors aid in advancing aerospace technology.

Why a PDC Nitrogen Compressor?

Safety interlocks

PDC’s nitrogen compressors are completely instrumented for safe and automatic operation.

Fast Acting Leak Detection System: Included with every PDC nitrogen diaphragm compressor is a leak detection system. This system detects diaphragm or seal failures. Our leak detection system monitors the gas and hydraulic sides of the compressor and will sound an alarm and/or shut down the compressor when it detects an anomaly or failure.

Leak-free nitrogen compression: PDC’s compressors compress nitrogen in an ultra-pure state.  There is no contamination of the nitrogen gas during compression.

Unique Oil Distribution System

PDC nitrogen diaphragm compressors hydraulic systems are designed in such a way as to ensure uniform diaphragm deflection, prevent knocks, vibration, cavitation and yield smooth, and quiet compressor operation.
